Community Volunteers Hit the Streets to Engage Wesley Chapel Voters

On Sunday, July 12, approximately 35 community volunteers gathered at Wesley Chapel District Park Pavilion to participate in a canvassing event organized by the Pasco County Democratic Party in support of local candidate Stephanie Vazquez.
The morning began with light breakfast refreshments before volunteers received campaign materials, neighborhood routes, and instructions for the day’s outreach. Teams of two or three, typically consisting of a driver and designated door knockers, then dispersed throughout the Wesley Chapel community.
According to organizers, volunteers knocked on 674 doors, speaking with residents about the importance of civic participation, upcoming elections, voter registration, and Florida’s Vote-by-Mail process. The canvass also served as an opportunity to introduce voters to local candidates and encourage community engagement.
Door-to-door canvassing remains one of the most personal forms of voter outreach, allowing volunteers to have face-to-face conversations with neighbors, answer questions, and provide information about the electoral process.
Reflecting on the event, Valerie Anderson Stallworth shared her perspective.
“This is how elections are won—one conversation, one door, and sometimes one voter at a time. Voting is not only a right but also a responsibility. It gives each of us an opportunity to help shape the future of our communities by electing leaders who represent our voices.”
