Pasco County is moving forward with a proposed one-year moratorium on large-scale data centers, giving county leaders time to study their potential effects on water, electricity, noise, the environment, and residents’ quality of life.

Stephanie Vazquez joined residents at the Pasco County Planning Commission meeting to urge the county to consider the full cost of these massive facilities before allowing them in Pasco.

“When we hear about a new development opportunity of any type, one of the questions typically asked first is, how much revenue will it generate?” Vazquez said. “But I would suggest that the more important question that we should be asking is: At what cost?”
